These three, original songs were written by myself, Frances Chewning and Beth Dover for our musical-comedy pitch project, "Fameily". Frances and Beth sang the vocals and I performed all instruments and engineered / recorded.
The story is about an orphaned brother and sister (Frances Chewning & Drew Droege) who meet a struggling singer/songwriter (Beth Dover) and the dishwasher at her restaurant / prodigiously talented guitarist (Joe LoTruglio). Musical sparks fly and, with their spurned manager (Mather Zickel) at the helm, they quickly rise to the the heights of fame and fortune. Following their inevitable implosion, they learn together that success may not be the most important thing, after all.
The actual show was never fully realized, but these songs make me smile.
I produced soundscapes and arranged music for Kirsten Kearse's dramatic, science-fiction play, which was an official selection and Encore Award Winner of the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
My interpretation of this Debussy piece sonically conveys what the final lyrics of the piece suggest:
" . . . We pass away,
as passes the wave:
The wave to the sea,
we to the grave."
Here are some instrumental demo recordings of some of my favorite tunes that I've written over the years. I play drums, guitar, bass, keyboards and/or drum machines and my very old friend Mike Quintian plays the guitar parts on "Wheatfields" and "Strawberry".
